It all began fourteen years ago when my mother brought me a picture book, my first peek into a world so eloquently woven into pages, a world which I fell in love with at first sight.
There’s no explanation as to why I spent the better part of my days lost in a different world instead of exploring my own, but with time I learnt that books are my world, a choice I made to live in fantasies and fiction rather than in your world…
The past six months have been extremely challenging for all of us and my biggest stress buster was reading, forgetting my own problems by reading about the problems of others!
I refused to worry myself by looking at the number of daily covid cases and mortalities instead I read about Junior from ‘The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian’, Bronwyn from ‘One of Us is Lying’, Emoni from ‘With the Fire on High’, Ayesha from ‘Ayesha At Last’ and so many more fascinating characters who quickly took the place of all my friends locked indoors!
I encourage all of you to read, because when you do you find an escape from whatever problems you’re facing! Tears dripping down my chin have turned to loud laughter because of my leather bound companions!
Come join me at the end of the tunnel leading into a happier world!
